As an Ashes Barns wedding photographer, I was beyond excited when Harry and Beth booked me to capture their wedding at this stunning venue. It was my first time photographing a wedding at The Ashes Barns, and I couldn’t wait to explore the venue and its incredible surroundings.
I arrived early to scout the best spots for portraits and group shots. With its historic barns, picturesque gardens, and rolling countryside, there was no shortage of amazing locations. The weather kept us on our toes—it rained a couple of times in the morning, but thankfully, the sun came out after the ceremony, allowing us to capture some truly stunning wedding photos.

Set within a private estate, The Ashes Barns is made up of beautifully restored historic stone barns arranged around a charming central courtyard. The West Barn, licensed for civil ceremonies, is full of character with exposed beams, stone walls and soft natural light — creating a warm, atmospheric space to say “I do.” The East Barn is ideal for wedding breakfasts and evening celebrations, offering plenty of room for guests while still feeling cosy and relaxed.

Outside, the venue really comes into its own. Manicured gardens, tranquil water features, rolling fields and distant Peak District views provide endless opportunities for stunning wedding photography throughout the day. From relaxed couple portraits at golden hour to group shots in the courtyard or lakeside, every corner of The Ashes Barns feels thoughtfully designed and effortlessly beautiful.

With on-site accommodation available, including a gorgeous country house and charming extras like the shepherd’s hut, it allows couples and their closest guests to slow down and fully enjoy the entire wedding experience.

As a wedding photographer, I love how The Ashes Barns offers such a perfect balance of natural light, rustic textures and open countryside. It’s a venue that photographs beautifully in every season and works just as well for relaxed, candid moments as it does for timeless, romantic portraits. It’s genuinely a dream location for couples who want their wedding photos to feel authentic, atmospheric and full of emotion.

The Big Day – A Wedding Full of Love, Laughter & Celebration

From the moment I arrived, I could feel the excitement in the air. Harry and Beth’s wedding day was filled with laughter, emotion, and unforgettable moments.
One of my favourite highlights was during their wedding ceremony—they couldn’t stop giggling during their vows, which made for the most beautiful and natural photos. After the ceremony, we captured all the group photos and a few of their couple portraits in the gardens before heading inside for the wedding breakfast in one of the barns and the speeches.

Speaking of the reception—it was epic! The energy on the dance floor was electric, with guests singing along to some incredible song choices from their DJ. And, in true British wedding fashion, there was a hilarious moment when everyone gathered around their phones to check the England penalty shootout. This memory perfectly captured the spirit of the day!
